Bonnie Babes Foundation - Making a difference

Bonnie Babes FoundationSadly, more than 50,000 babies die each year from miscarriage, stillbirth and pre maturity.

Bonnie Babes Foundation provides grief counselling to ease the suffering of this tragic loss and supports important medical research projects. Funding supports Perinatal Medicine for medical research projects and to counsel families who are grieving after the loss of a baby. We have 24 hour, 7 day per week grief counselling lines in Australia.

Money raised also contributes to purchasing new equipment, scholarships for young researchers, and special research projects involving pregnant women. Established in February 1994, the foundation is an non-profit international organisation which is the only one of its type in Australia and America. The Foundation is not government funded and is run by committee members and volunteers.

Our passionate team of volunteers, are dedicated to the aims of the Foundation. They provide group, individual and telephone grief counselling on behalf of the charity.

Little premature babies often struggle on life support systems. The equipment is expensive and technology can help these babies. The Foundation's aim is to fundraise to help these special little babies, many of whom sadly do not succeed in their fight to survive. It is heartbreaking to see a life ending before it has had a chance to live.

Much Needed Funds - Fibronectin units

The Foundation has supported the purchase of fetal Fibronectin Units in hospitals across Australia. The Foundation funded the testing of these units and the subsequent supply to hospitals of the units. When the Fibronectin unit swab changes colour it indicates that a woman in her third trimester of pregnancy is releasing fibronectin, therefore in premature labor, and urgent action can be taken by medical staff accordingly.
